Interventional Orthobiologic Medicine
What is interventional orthobiologic medicine?
It consist of doing minimally invasive injection procedures to help improve the particular problem that the patient presents with, using Orthobiologics such as BMAC and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) most frequently but we also use Progenekine. They are used to improve the healing of fractured bones and injured muscles, tendons and ligaments and are derived from substances that are naturally found in your own body. These are products prepared with your own blood or bone marrow or fat tissue by separating particular cells and are intended to heal the condition treated.
Dr. Dieguez as the innovator that he is, and using his background and expertise in anesthesia, surgery, interventional precision guided injections, orthobiologic medicine, has brought to St. Augustine the most advanced and up to date minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of musculoskeletal orthopedic conditions, spine conditions and sport injuries.
In his office he uses Orthobiologics techniques and also other techniques described in other areas of this website.
All of these techniques using orthobiologics show promise although more research is still needed and ongoing.
I will describe each of these modalities separately under a different tab so as to give you a better idea of what each entails. Remember, some condition respond better than others to orthobiologics and they are no magic cure all.
We encourage all of those out there interested in orthobiologic therapies to do your own research on the internet. That way if you decide to schedule an appointment, you will be ready to ask the appropriate questions to the doctor. Here is a good link to start your research but there are many many others:
