1) What is the difference between a “Direct Primary Care” (DPC) doctor and a “Direct Specialist Care”(DSC) doctor?
The primary difference is that “Direct Specialist Care” doctor treat conditions that require additional years of training to treat. In our specific case, Dr. Dieguez specializes in Interventional Pain Medicine and treat painful conditions such as joint pain, spine conditions and sports injuries without surgery and without addictive medications. The correct way to do these injections is under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance so you are certain where the needle will end up at and a primary care doctor has neither the equipment nor the training needed for these procedures like we do.
2) What insurances are you participating with? How do we pay you?
We participate only with BC/BS, regular Medicaid, Medicare and standard Tricare. If you have an insurance that we participate with, we will bill your insurance company for the services your policy pays for. We will have to follow the guidelines of your policy and deductibles and copays will need to be paid by you out of pocket. Also, if you chose a service not covered by your insurance company like Prolotherapy or Platelet Rich Plasma, it is your responsibility to pay the total cost. But if you do not have any of those insurances mentioned above, with our “Direct Specialist Care” plan you pay only a modest monthly subscription fee of $135 and there are no deductible and no co-pays, and for those very specialized procedures not covered by any insurance plan, like Prolotherapy and Platelet Rich Plasma you get a 60% discount! To summarize, our Direct Specialist Care subscription program is geared for those patients that have an insurance we do not participate with and suffer from the painful conditions mentioned above or for patients who have no insurance because they can afford them.
3) Why should I pay for one of this membership on top of my insurance if I already have one?
The answer is very simple. To save money and get better care. We recommend that everyone have health insurance in case you land in the hospital for whatever reason. With an insurance policy if you go to an urgent care or even your own family doctor you will have to seat and wait because most likely he has a crowd of patients. Second, your insurance will only pay a portion of the bill and you will have to pay out of pocket for any deductibles, copays, or coinsurance. Deductible could easily be up to $5,000 per year and copays can be from $35 to $75 for a specialist visit and coinsurance could be as much as 20% of the cost of the visit. These amounts your doctor is going to collect up front from you because he knows your insurance won’t pay it. Your insurance won’t pay a dime of the deductible, copay or coinsurance. So, add it up and see how much you would end up paying out of pocket in a year? That can add up quickly as the year goes by. On top of that, they won’t pay a dime for sophisticated advanced procedures like Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Prolotherapy and with our subscription program you get those procedures at a 60% discount of the regular price!
4) What about if I need lab-work or imaging studies or prescription?
First of all, the doctor does not prescribe any control substances. If you require them, you need to go elsewhere. As to either lab-work or imaging studies, or non-controlled medications, we will prescribe them for you and schedule them at facilities that accept your insurance or to facilities if any where we have been able to negotiated lower cash prices with.
5) Will I have quick access to the doctor if I need to ask for advice or questions that may come up?
The answer is that you will have direct access to him either via his cell phone or via text using a secure app for any non-emergency issues. For emergencies, you need to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Office visits are either same day or next business day and you will be seen at the scheduled appointment time. You will not ever be rushed and you will always see Dr. Dieguez himself. He will make you feel at ease and answer all of your question and work closely with you so you have a doctor you can trust.
